A Different Kind of Lunch Out

Jeremy treated the kids and I to lunch out.
You are going to be soooo jealous (or "jel" as some cool people say) when you find out where he took us. None of us had been there or been anywhere like it.

He took us to eat in a bus.

Yep, you read that right. A bus, as in, let's go for a quick ride while you cook my food bus.

It was authentic mexican food that is cooked in the back of the bus. There are seats facing out toward the windows on each side where you can eat.
Here we are waiting for our food and excited to eat some yummy goodness in our unique atmosphere.
This was not the most baby friendly place to take my messy rice eating Bella.
After her first bite of rice, we picked up everything and went outside on the one picnic table by the bus.

We hardly ever use this seat but I am quite thankful for it in moments like this. Just hooked it up to the table and the rice eating fest began.

She is a pretty intense rice eater. I was glad we made the decision to take the kids to that picnic table. Chase was disappointed that he could not eat on the bus but the vision I had of me on my hands & knees picking up mexican rice all over that floor made that plain old brown picnic table look great to me.

This was Jeremy's plate of chicken tacos.

This was my steak quesadilla. I squirted the lime over it and devoured it. I have not had a quesadilla that good in a long time.

Jeremy had gone to this bus just last week with his dad who is a regular customer there.
Most people would have seen this bus and would have turned their nose up at it while thinking it must be a dirty place to get food.

The only dirty area I saw was under Isabella's seat after her rice fest.
No surprise there.

I was glad that I had the experience of going to the old bus. I have not had mexican food that good since my last visit to Mexico.

It reminded me a little of how we teach our kids to not judge people by the outside appearance. Get to know the person and you might be surprised by the good you find. I can not count how many times I have taught that through the years in my class.

May you find the good in situations that are not appealing to you today and be blessed (& surprised) by how much you like it instead.

You are right! Some of the best places to eat are places that most people would've give a chance. That food looks amazing and makes me miss San Antonio so much!!
